Residents of the UAE were warned on Thursday to beware of scam messages targeting iPhone users.

In an awareness video, the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) warned iOS system users to look out for phishing scams and fraudulent messages.

A man is seen in the video receiving a message that tells him he has won a large prize on his iMessenger app. In the link that follows, he is given the opportunity to “win” $100,000 by depositing $5,000. He clicks a button to do so, which drains his bank account.

At the end of the video, an official message says that iMessages are now being received on iPhones with iOS systems. Customers are urged to beware of phishing and fraudulent messages from TDRA.”
