Alibaba Group Holding Ltd has unveiled its latest AI language model, Tongyi Qianwen, which it intends to integrate across all its business applications in the near future. Tongyi Qianwen, which bears resemblance to GPT, is a large language model that will initially be incorporated into DingTalk, Alibaba’s work messaging app. The company claims it can be used to summarize meeting notes, compose emails, and formulate business proposals.

Moreover, the language model will also be integrated into Tmall Genie, Alibaba’s voice assistant. In a company statement, Alibaba Cloud stated its intention to provide Tongyi Qianwen to its customers so they can design their own customized large language models.

Tongyi Qianwen is developed using Tongyi, Alibaba’s exclusive pre-trained model framework that harmonizes several AI models. This decision by Alibaba to incorporate an AI language model into its business applications underscores the escalating significance of artificial intelligence in business procedures. With the introduction of Tongyi Qianwen, Alibaba seeks to compete with US-based rivals, such as OpenAI, Microsoft Bing’s chatbot, and even Google Bard.
