Controversial Korean singer Choi Sung-bong found dead at home, suspected to be a suicide. The 33-year-old artist, known for his participation in Korea’s Got Talent, was discovered in the Yeoksam-dong district of southern Seoul. According to Korean media, suicide is being considered as a possible cause of death.
Choi Sung-bong gained significant attention after signing a record deal with Bong Bong Company. Just a day before his death, he uploaded a note on his YouTube channel, expressing apologies for his past mistakes and the suffering they caused. Two years prior, the singer had made false claims about being diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer and had solicited donations from his fans, as reported by the Daily Mail.
In his final note, Choi Sung-bong thanked the many people who had shown him love and support throughout his career but acknowledged his regret for the mistakes he had made. He stated that all those who requested a return of their donations had been refunded. The singer expressed sincere remorse to those who had been harmed by his actions and apologized to the individuals who had offered him assistance.
Choi Sung-bong had released several popular singles, including “Slowcoach,” “Tonight,” and “I PRAY.” His untimely death adds to the recent tragedies in the Korean entertainment industry, following the passing of actress Park Soo Ryun earlier this month. Park Soo Ryun died after falling from a staircase during a visit to Jeju Island, and she was subsequently declared brain dead at a hospital.
The loss of Choi Sung-bong has left fans and the Korean entertainment community in mourning, as they remember his talent and the impact he made during his career.
