Prior to Sunday’s grand prix, Yas Marina Circuit opened its doors to fans for the customary public pitlane walk. With the day’s schedule primarily featuring practice sessions, attendees seized the chance to get an up-close view of the gleaming cars and team garages.
During the afternoon, fans strolled through the garages of all 10 teams. High-profile teams like Mercedes and Ferrari attracted the most attention, with enthusiasts snapping selfies, while smaller groups congregated around the spaces of F1 underdogs like Alfa Romeo and Haas.
Michael Mansour, a supporter of Haas, expressed his mixed emotions about backing the team that is set to finish at the bottom of the Constructor Standings this season. Despite the challenges, Mansour emphasized the camaraderie within each team and the unique personalities and stories of everyone involved.
For Mexican couple Sonia and Jose Perez, attending their first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was driven by the opportunity to witness their compatriot, Red Bull’s Sergio Perez, race in their adopted city. Sonia highlighted the strong international community in Abu Dhabi, particularly the vibrant Mexican presence evident in the pitlane and stands.
Arendane and Refilwe Mauda, a South African couple attending the Grand Prix as neutral spectators, shared their excitement about experiencing the unique atmosphere of the pitlane walk. Refilwe emphasized the indescribable joy of hearing the roaring engines and the distinct sounds of the tools used in the pitlane.
As the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix unfolds, with additional practice rounds on Friday, followed by the qualifying session on Saturday and the main race on Sunday, fans continue to revel in the immersive experience that the event offers.
