Pakistan achieved a remarkable World Cup record chase, scoring 345 to defeat Sri Lanka in Hyderabad.

Despite early challenges at 37-2, a stellar partnership of 176 runs in 156 balls between Abdullah Shafique and Muhammad Rizwan paved the way. Shafique, replacing Fakhar Zaman, scored 113 from 103 balls before being caught at point. Rizwan and Saud Shakeel then contributed 95 runs for the fourth wicket.

Rizwan, battling a back injury and calf cramps, displayed heroic determination. He remained unbeaten with 131 runs from 121 balls, steering Pakistan to victory alongside Iftikhar Ahmed (22*) with 10 balls to spare.

Sri Lanka posted 344-9 in their 50 overs, with Kusal Mendis scoring a brilliant 122 off 77 balls and Sadeera Samarawickrama contributing 108 off 89. This match made history as the first World Cup game with four centuries.

Pakistan secured their first two victories, while Sri Lanka suffered two losses. In another World Cup match on Tuesday, England bounced back from their opening-game defeat with a convincing 137-run win over Bangladesh.
