Record Low for Indian Rupee as Dollar Strengthens Amid Risk Aversion

US equity futures and Asian shares experienced declines, while demand for safe havens pushed up US Treasuries.

On Friday, the Indian rupee debuted at a historic low as news of Israeli strikes in Iran drove investors away from risk assets towards safer havens. The rupee commenced trading at 22.767 against the UAE dirham, surpassing its previous record low of 22.764, and declining from its Thursday position of 22.762.


US equity futures and Asian shares saw declines, whereas demand for safe-haven assets lifted US Treasuries.
