After scoring an outstanding fifty against the Chennai Super Kings in their IPL match, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant expressed on Sunday that he had always maintained self-belief in his ability to stage a comeback in top-tier cricket.
Pant hammered four boundaries and three maximums, showcasing his trademark hand-off-the-bat six, during his 32-ball 51, which propelled DC to a competitive total of 191 for 5 against CSK. This performance led DC to a 20-run victory in the match.
Pant made a triumphant return to competitive cricket in this IPL after surviving a life-threatening road accident in December 2022, marking his first fifty in three games this season.
Reflecting on his journey, Pant remarked, “One and a half years…this is something I have built my life on. I still have to keep learning as a cricketer.” When questioned about any doubts regarding his ability to execute such shots again, he responded, “I had self-belief that whatever happens, I have to come back to the ground and I didn’t think about anything else,” during the post-match presentation.
Initially facing some struggle, Pant found his rhythm in the final overs, accelerating to score 43 runs in the last three overs.
