The first-ever event, featuring "PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions," is set to unfold at the newly constructed Kingdom Arena in Riyadh on February 24th.

The CEO of the Professional Fighters League (PFL) anticipates a groundbreaking debut event in Saudi Arabia next week, describing it as a “game-changing” initiative that will pave the way for establishing a world-class ecosystem for mixed martial arts (MMA) in the region. The inaugural event, scheduled for February 24 at Riyadh’s new Kingdom Arena, will feature “PFL Champions vs Bellator Champions” following PFL’s acquisition of Bellator in November. The collaboration stems from an investment agreement with SRJ Sports Investments, a Saudi Public Investment Fund entity, solidifying SRJ’s minority equity ownership in PFL and marking a strategic move towards the launch of PFL Mena, a regional league set to commence in April.

PFL CEO Peter Murray expressed excitement about the partnership with SRJ, emphasizing their commitment to growing MMA globally and establishing a top-tier MMA ecosystem in Saudi Arabia. The collaboration extends beyond the inaugural event, with plans for multiple events in Saudi Arabia throughout the year. Murray also revealed ambitions to organize six regional leagues globally by 2026, each showcasing top fighters from their respective regions.

Describing the PFL’s long-term commitment to the sport in Saudi Arabia and the broader region, Murray highlighted their intention to contribute to the growth of MMA, starting with athletes and building a global business. He confirmed discussions with stakeholders in various countries to stage PFL events throughout the Middle East, reflecting the high demand for MMA in the region.

The upcoming event in Riyadh marks the launch of the PFL PPV Super Fights division, featuring champion versus champion matchups. The fight card includes notable names such as Renan Ferreira, Ryan Bader, Impa Kasanganay, Johnny Eblen, Jesus Pinedo, and Patricio Pitbull. Murray also announced the debut of marquee star Francis Ngannou later in the year, emphasizing Ngannou’s unique journey as both an MMA and boxing athlete.

The PFL aims to create a “Champions League of MMA” with its regional leagues, providing a pathway for top talent to compete in global events. Murray hinted at future events in the Middle East and continued expansion, underscoring the PFL’s dedication to delivering compelling MMA content.
