Samsung, the Korean smart devices major, has announced its plans to manufacture its premium flagship devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5, in India to cater to local demands. These high-end devices are set to be launched in India on August 18, and pre-bookings with attractive offers will begin at midnight on July 27.

JB Park, President, and CEO of Samsung SouthWest Asia, stated that both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 will be produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This move represents Samsung’s commitment to local manufacturing and reflects its confidence in the Indian market.

Foldable smartphones, including flip phones, are gaining popularity globally, and market research and analysis firm Techarc predicts that they will contribute over 1.8 percent of total smartphone revenues in 2023.

Samsung has already taken steps to bolster its local manufacturing capabilities in India. The company began manufacturing the Fold 4 and Flip 4 series in India in December, just four months after their global launch. By expanding its local production to include the latest flagship devices, Samsung aims to cater to the growing demand for premium smartphones in India.

Raju Pullan, Senior Vice President of Samsung India’s Mobile Business, highlighted that Indian consumers will have the privilege of owning “made in India” Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 devices from the very beginning. This localization initiative not only strengthens Samsung’s commitment to the Indian market but also aligns with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, promoting indigenous manufacturing and fostering economic growth.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 are anticipated to offer cutting-edge features, seamless user experiences, and innovative designs, catering to the needs of tech enthusiasts and smartphone connoisseurs in India. As the demand for premium smartphones continues to surge in the country, Samsung aims to provide its customers with locally manufactured devices that meet global standards of quality and performance.

With the upcoming launch of these flagship devices and their local manufacturing, Samsung is poised to consolidate its position in the Indian smartphone market further. The move also underscores Samsung’s long-term commitment to empowering India’s tech ecosystem, creating job opportunities, and contributing to the country’s economic growth through local manufacturing. As India remains a crucial market for the global smartphone industry, Samsung’s decision to manufacture its high-end devices locally reinforces its dedication to serving its Indian customers and strengthening its foothold in the dynamic and competitive Indian smartphone market.
