The UAE’s Public Prosecution utilized X (previously Twitter) to reinforce awareness among residents regarding potential penalties for committing assault.

The authority presented two hypothetical cases of assault along with their corresponding legal consequences.


According to Article 390 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021, outlining the Penal Code, individuals who assault another, causing illness or incapacity for personal work exceeding twenty days, may face a fine and imprisonment. Alternatively, for less severe assaults, the perpetrator could be fined up to Dh10,000 and sentenced to a year in prison.

The authority emphasizes that if an assault leads to the miscarriage of a pregnant woman, it is considered an aggravated circumstance. These regulations aim to maintain public order and safety.
