Actor and author Soha Ali Khan expresses her desire to write a book on the life and experiences of her mother, veteran actor Sharmila Tagore, despite her reservations about being the “right person” for such a task.
Currently, Soha is involved in co-producing a biopic on legal luminary Ram Jethmalani alongside her actor-husband Kunal Khemu. In addition to this, she has authored a memoir and collaborated with Khemu on multiple children’s books.
The author of “The Perils of Being Moderately Famous” shared that her mother is curious about the progress of her next book and would be delighted if Soha were to write her biography. Soha acknowledges the challenge, saying, “When people read them, they will be like ‘would they be able to share the grey aspects of this personality because you are their child.'”
While she is keen on narrating her mother’s story, Soha is unsure if she can do justice to all facets of Sharmila Tagore’s personality. She is concerned about revealing every aspect of her mother’s life, especially from the perspective of a child. Despite these uncertainties, Soha expresses her genuine desire to tell her mother’s story.
The “Rang De Basanti” actor also sees a compelling narrative waiting to be explored in her father’s life, legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. Soha believes there is an abundance of information and content that could form the basis of an engaging biography. She suggests that her brother, actor Saif Ali Khan, an avid reader, could also take up the responsibility of sharing their father’s story.
Having co-authored children’s books with her husband, Soha emphasizes that everyone has a book within them, but discipline and practice are crucial for successful writing. Despite her passion for storytelling, she acknowledges her perceived lack of discipline in the writing process.
