Etihad Airways has announced plans to hire approximately 1,000 employees annually for the next seven years, as revealed by Antonoaldo Neves, the Chief Executive Officer, during the Dubai Airshow’s second day. Neves highlighted the airline’s expansion strategy, aiming to double its fleet size over the next seven years, expressing confidence in the positive impact on the company’s value.
In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, the aviation sector is rebounding, with Etihad Airways actively considering new recruitments. Neves stated, “We’re going to be hiring 800 to 1,000 people every year for the next seven years.” He emphasized the industry’s resilience and observed that in many regions, flight levels have surpassed or reached pre-COVID levels.
As part of its growth plan, Etihad Airways aims to add 10% to its fleet each year, and the recent addition of new Dreamliners, including the Boeing 787-9, is expected to support this expansion. The airline has grown by 35% this year, adding 12 new destinations, and plans to introduce 10 more in the coming year, including routes in India, Boston, and Nairobi.
Neves acknowledged the challenges in the aviation industry, particularly the supply chain issues affecting the timely delivery of planes. Despite this challenge, Etihad Airways remains committed to its growth objectives. Neves discussed the significance of the Midfield terminal in Abu Dhabi, calling it one of the best terminals globally. The airline plans to transition the majority of its operations to the new terminal, facilitating its ambitious growth plan of accommodating 17 million passengers next year and 33 million passengers over the next seven years.
