Sharjah Airport’s Cargo Centre has completed its preparations to handle horse shipments, aligning with the Sharjah Airport Authority’s efforts to enhance air cargo operations’ efficiency, especially for special cargo handling needs.
These preparations are aimed at efficiently addressing the specific requirements for handling such cargo, ensuring smooth facilities for horse transportation within the country or internationally, including facilities for horsemen to complete necessary procedures. These preparations coincide with the start of the local and international horse racing and equestrian festival season.
Sharjah Airport’s Cargo Centre provides advanced facilities and innovative logistical solutions to facilitate the transportation of purebred horses through the airport. These amenities include a dedicated stable on-site, ensuring easy access for the horses and their handlers. The stable will feature customized flooring, such as Astroturf, to enable easy horse movement.
Sharjah Aviation Services (SAS), the ground handling services provider at Sharjah Airport, offers these amenities through its specialized team. SAS has earned recognition with the IATA Safety Audit for Ground Operations (ISAGO) certification, underlining its commitment to maintaining the highest safety and security standards while handling all cargo.
Customers can conveniently check the status of their shipments through the Cargo Centre’s website or sign up for the airport’s flight tracking service to receive SMS updates on cargo flight statuses.
