Filipino Job Opportunities Expand in the Middle East, Including UAE and Saudi Arabia
The Philippine government has announced that more Filipinos will soon have the opportunity to work in the Middle East, particularly in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia alone aims to offer around one million job vacancies to skilled Filipino workers.
According to PY Caunan, the undersecretary for policy and international cooperation at the Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Saudi Arabia has numerous job openings in the tourism sector, particularly in hotels, restaurants, and resorts. The construction sector also continues to provide employment opportunities.
The UAE has also expressed its need for additional skilled workers, particularly in the healthcare industry. Caunan stated that they will be organizing meetings and dialogues with various stakeholders, including Filipino expatriates, to address concerns and facilitate the deployment process to the UAE.
Furthermore, Oman and Qatar have shown interest in hiring more skilled Filipino workers, as reported by the Philippine News Agency (PNA). The DMW plans to launch a special hiring program to facilitate the placement of workers in these countries and ensure flexibility in employment opportunities.
In addition to the Middle East, several European countries, such as Austria and Portugal, are offering job opportunities for Filipinos. The Philippine government is set to sign a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with Austria and other European countries to further enhance employment prospects. Austria, in particular, has a high demand for healthcare workers and is in need of approximately 200,000 workers in various occupations.
The expansion of job opportunities in these regions provides Filipinos with greater possibilities for employment and professional growth.
