Galatasaray Stages Thrilling Comebacks, Shocks Manchester United Twice

by THE GULF TALK

Manchester United’s troubled season continued with yet another painful defeat, as Galatasaray capitalized on glaring defensive errors to secure a remarkable comeback victory in the Champions League clash at Old Trafford.

Even with only ten players on the field, Manchester United managed to take the lead on two occasions, thanks to the efforts of young striker Rasmus Hojlund. His second goal, a brilliant solo run covering 50 yards, took advantage of Davinson Sanchez’s slip and culminated in a delicate finish past Fernando Muslera.

However, the home side’s lead was short-lived, lasting a mere 10 minutes in total. First, former United player Wilfried Zaha, and then Kerem Akturkoglu, leveled the score. Later, Mauro Icardi had an opportunity to capitalize on a penalty following a dreadful mistake by Andre Onana that resulted in a red card for Casemiro. Icardi redeemed himself, sprinting past the hosts’ defense to score the winning goal with just nine minutes left.

This marks the first time that Manchester United has begun a Champions League group stage with consecutive defeats, intensifying the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. The team currently occupies the bottom spot in the table, trailing their second-placed visitors, and Bayern Munich in the top spot.

Manchester United’s woes continue to mount, with two consecutive losses following their Premier League defeat to Crystal Palace on the weekend. This defeat adds to their tally of five losses in their last seven games and six out of ten in all competitions this season.
