Later, Mauro Icardi had an opportunity to capitalize on a penalty following a dreadful mistake by Andre Onana that resulted in a red card for Casemiro. Icardi redeemed himself, sprinting past the hosts’ defense to score the winning goal with just nine minutes left.
This marks the first time that Manchester United has begun a Champions League group stage with consecutive defeats, intensifying the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag. The team currently occupies the bottom spot in the table, trailing their second-placed visitors, and Bayern Munich in the top spot.
