In the realm of expansive beachfront resorts that Dubai boasts, there’s always room for boutique establishments providing personalized service. Meet the newcomer, voco Dubai The Palm, a boutique sea-facing hotel with 138 rooms situated on Palm Jumeirah’s West Beach promenade. Opening its doors in January, it marks the InterContinental Hotels Group’s first beach property on this iconic location.

Arrival and Check-in: Getting to the hotel is straightforward, situated prominently on Palm West Beach. The valet service, operating via QR codes, efficiently handles luggage. The receptionist, Ever, offers a warm welcome, providing a quick overview of facilities and check-in details. The lobby, adorned in pastel hues, exudes a casual ambiance, offering comfortable seating for guests awaiting check-in or valet services.

Neighborhood: Nestled on Palm West Beach, the hotel enjoys proximity to popular beachfront dining spots. The location offers splendid views of Ain Dubai, the Dubai Marina skyline, Dubai Harbour, and Palm Jumeirah. Complimentary shuttle service to Nakheel Mall and Dubai Hills Mall enhances the guest experience. Weekends see increased vibrancy, with joggers and beachgoers, though neighboring pool parties may disrupt tranquility.

Accommodation: Our stay in a King Palm beachfront room on the eighth floor provides stunning views of the Arabian Gulf. The room, decorated in coastal hues, boasts spaciousness and includes a work desk, a comfortable bed, and a sofa chair. Notable features include refillable water bottles, toiletries, and user-friendly light switches. A minor issue arises with the wardrobe’s sliding doors.

Service: The hotel stands out for its exceptional service. Staff, notably Gaurav at the concierge and the Maison Mathis restaurant team, exhibit a willingness to assist and make recommendations. Despite a slight delay in beach service, the overall service is commendable.

Facilities: The rooftop infinity pool on the ninth floor provides breathtaking views and transforms into a rooftop lounge at night. The absence of a kids’ club, play area, or games room may be a downside for families. The hotel’s pet-friendly policy allows one pet per room, excluding the rooftop pool area, with a fee of Dh200 per stay.

Dining: Maison Mathis, the hotel’s restaurant, offers Belgian classics in a casual atmosphere. Dinner and breakfast feature a variety of dishes, with highlights including calamari, barbecue chicken wings, succulent Angus beef steak, and delightful desserts. The breakfast buffet offers a range of international and continental options.

Pros and Cons: Highlights include friendly staff, pristine sea views, and comfortable beds. Minor drawbacks include weak Wi-Fi, evening noise from a neighboring hotel, and the absence of water sport activities.

Insider Tips: Opt for a beachfront room on a higher floor with a balcony for uninterrupted sea views. Capture Instagram-worthy photos from the left corner of the rooftop pool with the Dubai Marina skyline as a backdrop.

Verdict: Voco Dubai The Palm is an ideal destination for a weekend escape, offering ocean views and the added perk of accommodating pets.

Rates: Starting at Dh900 per night for a deluxe room, rates vary based on room type and view, excluding taxes and VAT. Check-in is from 3 pm, and check-out is at 12 pm. Visit www.ihg.com/voco/hotels for more details.
