Envi Lodges, a luxury eco-pod operator based in the UAE, seeks to attract environmentally conscious travelers seeking a meaningful connection with nature and local communities while minimizing their ecological impact.

Founded in September 2021 by Noelle Homsy and Chris Nader, Envi Lodges responds to changing travel habits during the Covid-19 pandemic. The co-founders aim to provide unique experiences beyond traditional luxury hotels, drawing inspiration from eco-lodges integrated harmoniously into communities, as observed by Homsy during her travels in South-East Asia.

Focusing on sustainability, Envi Lodges aligns with seven pillars, including wildlife conservation, mindful resource usage, and community support. The startup is certified by Beyond Green, an alliance evaluating sustainability practices based on over 50 indicators.

Envi Lodges plans to open projects in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Zanzibar, and Costa Rica in 2024 and 2025, emphasizing three customer segments: adventure seekers, spiritual seekers, and explorers. The startup’s research indicates a growing demand for eco-lodges globally, aligning with the rising interest in impact investments.

Despite challenges in the travel and tourism sector related to the climate crisis, Envi Lodges remains committed to responsible tourism. The company is in negotiations to expand into the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. Seeking a third round of funding, Envi Lodges aims to raise over $150 million for future projects, aspiring to become a global brand with a presence on every continent.

In a Q&A, co-founder Noelle Homsy discusses the importance of a social impact business, the skills gained in launching Envi Lodges, and the company’s differentiation in the sustainable hospitality sector. She emphasizes adaptability in a post-Covid world and outlines the hospitality industry’s future changes, driven by guest preferences for values, transformative experiences, sustainability, and technological integration. Homsy expresses excitement about Envi Lodges’ upcoming openings and envisions strategic growth while maintaining the startup culture in the next five years.
