Dubai International Airport (DXB) has once again been recognized as the busiest airport in the world for international passenger traffic, according to the Airport Council International (ACI). This marks the ninth consecutive year that Dubai has retained the title.

In 2022, the airport saw a massive increase in passenger traffic, with numbers crossing 66 million. This was a significant jump from the previous year due to the resumption of international travel after the pandemic. DXB has also raised its passenger forecast for 2023 to 78 million.

The Dubai Media Office announced the news on Twitter, stating that DXB ranks first globally as the world’s busiest airport by international traffic in 2022 based on the ACI’s annual report.

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths was not surprised by the title, stating that it was a result of the airport’s stellar performance throughout 2022 and the upsurge in traffic in the final quarter. He also praised the airport’s people and service partners for their dedication, meticulous planning, and preparation, which allowed DXB to deliver tangible improvements in the airport experience for the 66 million passengers that passed through in 2022.

Griffiths emphasized that DXB’s focus remains on continuing to work on keeping the airport on top of the list of the busiest hubs while also delivering the best airport experience globally.

Other airports that made it to the top 10 include London’s Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Madrid, Doha, Singapore, and London’s Gatwick Airport.
