Flights connecting Dubai, Riyadh, Jeddah, and Cairo have solidified their presence among the world’s busiest routes in 2023, according to the annual ranking by aviation consultancy Official Airline Guide. Topping the list are flights linking Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, witnessing a substantial 4.8 million seats sold throughout the year. The flight between these two cities, lasting just over an hour, secured the top spot. Following closely in second place, with a mere 2 percent capacity difference, are flights between Cairo and Jeddah, accounting for slightly over 4.7 million seats. Notably, Dubai to Riyadh flights claimed the sixth position, totaling 3.9 million seats sold.
Singapore emerges as the busiest airport of the year, with three routes in the Top 10 involving flights through its renowned Changi airport. The majority of the top routes are dominated by Asian and Middle Eastern connections, emphasizing the region’s prominence in air travel. However, breaking this trend is a New York-London flight, which secures the eighth position with 3.8 million seats sold, adding an international flavor to the rankings.
