Riyadh Air, a new airline launched by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund Public Investment Fund (PIF), has begun its recruitment process and is inviting pilots to apply as it prepares for its launch in 2025.
Peter Bellew, the chief operating officer of Riyadh Air, encouraged pilots with experience on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner or the Boeing 777 aircraft to explore the opportunities available online. The airline had placed a multi-billion dollar order for up to 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner planes in April 2023, with an option to acquire an additional 33 airplanes. This order is part of Saudi Arabia’s plan to serve 330 million passengers and attract 100 million visitors by 2030.
The interview process for pilot recruitment is expected to begin in September 2023, and the airline plans to formally induct individuals into the company starting in January 2024. Riyadh Air aims to hire 700 pilots over the next three years, seeking candidates with experience on the 787 Dreamliner as well as those with existing wide-body aircraft experience.
The aviation sector has witnessed a strong recovery following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by increased demand for both business and leisure travel worldwide. Other airlines, such as Dubai’s flagship carrier and flydubai, have also announced major recruitment drives to hire cabin crew, pilots, engineers, and customer service staff.
Bellew highlighted the opportunity for interested candidates to be part of Riyadh Air, living in one of the most vibrant capitals in the world and experiencing the dynamic industrial and leisure development of Riyadh. Interested individuals can apply online and can expect to be contacted in the coming weeks regarding the recruitment process. Riyadh Air aims to provide an exciting adventure within the Arab culture for those looking to capitalize on this opportunity.
